【摘要】:Pumping,filtering,andtankfillingofpetroleumproducts,particularlyrefineddistillates,cancausethegenerationandaccumulationofelectrostaticchargesandcanresultinstaticdischargescapableofcausingfiresandexplosions.Thisguideprovidesanoverviewofthefactorsinvolvedinthegenerationofsuchelectrostaticcharges.Methodsaredescribedforthealleviationoftheproblem,andcitedauthoritativereferencescontainmoredetails.Thisguideisnotintendedtoprovideoperatingorsafetyrulesforthehandlingofpetroleumproductstoavoidelectrostatichazards.1.1Thisguidedescribeshowstaticelectricitymaybegeneratedinpetroleumfuelsystems,thetypesofequipmentconducivetochargegenerationandmethodsforthesafedissipationofsuchcharges.Theguideisintendedtoincreaseawarenessofpotentialoperatingproblemsandhazardsresultingfromelectrostaticchargeaccumulation.1.2Thisguideisnotintendedtoprovidespecificsolutionsbutindicatesavailabletechniquestheusermaywishtoinvestigatetoalleviateelectrostaticcharges.Theguidedoesnotcovertheeffectsofstraycurrentsoroflightning,eitherofwhichcanalsoproducesparksleadingtofiresorexplosions.1.3Thisguideisnotintendedtoaddressdetailedsafetypracticesassociatedwithstaticelectricityinpetroleumproductsystems.1.4ThevaluesinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
